The niagara emitter

  • There is one Niagara system that displayed the rock wakes around the shield.

  • This system has multiple emitters that contribute to giving the final result.

The materials

  • The main shield material that gives the shield dome effect.

  • The second material used id for the shock waves on the sphere itself, they have an opacity mask panning on it.

  • The last material if used for the rock spikes and included in the Niagara system.

THE SHIELD DOME EFFECT

  • This effect was made in the Niagara system in unreal engine 5.

  • The entire rendering was taken from a level sequencer.

  • The shield effect consists of a material applied to a sphere.

  • The shock waves on the sphere are meshed and created in Houdini.

The meshes and textures

  • One of the meshes used is the sphere while the other one is the spike rock mesh.

  • The third mesh used is the shocks which are modeled in Houdini using procedural modeling.
