The materials

  • As it is the .abc file (alembic cache), I did UV of the mesh in Maya and created new materials for the weapons in unreal.

WEAPON MORPH

  • This is basically a simulation that is imported from Houdini into unreal.

  • This effect is linked to the player animation and triggered as a powered ability for the player(indie game: Rudra)

The Houdini to unreal

  • The simulation is imported from Houdini to unreal and exported as a .abc file (alembic cache)

  • Two unique meshes are first converted to volumes with a particle size of 0.005 and then animated through the solver node in Houdini.

  • The final result is converted back to polygons.
