THE PORATL EFFECT

  • This effect was made in the Niagara system in unreal engine 5.

  • The last rendering was taken directly from the level sequencer from the engine.

  • This system consists of a combination of two effects (vortex effect and the beam)

The niagara emitter

  • This is the Niagara system with different emitters that together contribute to the effect.

  • The particles that behave as a portal are a different system.

  • I did make use of vortex force and made the axis of the vortex velocity rotate in the Z axis.

  • The other beam system consists of multiple emitters.

The meshes and textures

  • There are two meshes used: The cone mesh and the disc mesh 

  • The textures are all hand-painted and edited in photoshop.

The materials

  • There are three materials used to achieve the effect.

  • One of the materials is used for the star texture appearing in the effect. (made use of instance material for optimization purposes.)

  • The other one is used for the center aura effect that looks like a moving purple fire.

  • The last material is used for the panning effect on the cylinder that scales along with the beam.
